INSTRUCTIONAL SYSTEMS DESIGN I
Dr. Tai-Yi Huang
The design of instructional systems is examined through research reports on the theoretical assumptions of learning and analysis of learning systems as they apply to the development of educational and instructional training programs.

In designing instruction, I think we should first validate a learner’s experience and evaluate their learning environment internally and externally. Instruction should then follow four steps:
Hands on tinkering first = normalizes insecurity
Reflection to bring forward established knowledge and boost security from past learning
Instruction to expand learning
Application and assessment for validation

I hope to develop tools for designing for human, authentic engagement with models like ADDIE in dynamic environments like AR and VR.

The client for Project A is Lecturer for the Liberal Studies Department at Texas A&M University at Galveston Campus. The type of courses this project aims to review are historical and anthropological in regards to maritime history and oceanic scientific exploration. These courses are typically taught in person but due to Covid-19 all courses are now asynchronous. The future designs for this course have not been determined.
I have developed a few digital participant packets mostly for the 100+ student employees in the Center for Academic Learning Support. The largest effort was in building a Google Site across our various academic support programs including Collections, Library, Supplemental Instruction, Studio, and Writing.
